Motivation isn’t always going to be there, and that’s so important to remind yourself. When you’re not feeling motivated, it can be hard to simply move off of the couch, let alone head to the gym. First and foremost, It’s so important to check in with yourself and find your “why” why do I want to workout? What are your goals? What are you trying to achieve? It’s crucial to know and have a clear understanding of your goals, or else it will harder to find motivation to workout at all. Spend 5-10 minutes writing in your planner/journal and write down your short and long term fitness goals. Dissect them, and really hone in on why you want to achieve them. Write them out, tape them to your fridge or mirror, and remind yourself on a daily basis of what you want to achieve. When you write down your goals, you’re more likely to achieve them.
If you’re dreading even getting started, think about how GOOD you’re going to feel during your workout. Think about all those amazing endorphins, and “good feelings”.. you know what I’m talking about. You may feel sluggish, and tired now, but there’s nothing like an incredible workout to energize and uplift you. Even if you’re too tired to spend an hour or so at the gym, challenge yourself to do 15-30 minutes of cardio, something is always better than nothing. Write in your planner the days you are going to workout, and put a reminder in your phone if you have to. If you’re feeling like you just don’t know what to do once you get to the gym, make a plan.
