We all have busy lives, with a million obligations, but it’s essential to put yourself first. After a long hard day, it can be hard to talk yourself into hitting the gym – today, I want to dive deep into this topic. Today I’m sharing with you all, 5  Simple Truths to Remind Yourself When You Just Don’t Feel Like Working Out.

Simple Truths to Remind Yourself When You Just Don’t Feel Like Working Out

Prepare yourself ahead of time, and you’re bound for success….

It’s hard to “get started” on a new workout routine, or just simply head outside for a walk. To get ahead of the game, pack your gym bag, or simply lay out your clothes the night before, to best prepare yourself for any type of activity. Getting yourself prepared before you start, is the best way to ensure you get started. If you’re like me and struggle to find a good pair or supportive shoes that align with whatever activity you choose to get out and get active, check out Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Orthotic Inserts when you visit the newly designed kiosk at Walmart. If you suffer from lower body pain, step on the Dr. Scholl’s® Kiosk because it’s fast, free, and easy. Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Orthotic Inserts provide immediate, all-day relief of pain from being on your feet. Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Orthotic Inserts offer consumers a value. Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Kiosk uses advanced Footmapping® Technology in which 2,000+ pressure sensors capture your unique foot profile and recommend the best Custom Fit® orthotic inserts for you. To ensure comfort in all types of activities, be sure to pick up your very own pair of orthotics at Walmart.

Not sure how to use the Kiosk? Here are my step by step instructions!

  1. Remove your shoes, leave on your socks and place your feet within the large footprints on the mat. Press start to begin, and follow the instructions on the kiosk. Be sure to hold onto the black handlebars, to get accurate results
  2. The kiosk will guide you through the next steps as it measures your arch, pressure points, and foot length. The kiosk is simply formulating a recommendation for Custom Fit® Orthotic Inserts.
  3. First, the Kiosk will measure your feet in a standing position. Just lean forward on your feet to move the yellow circle into the blinking green target. This locks in the measurement. Then, the Kiosk will measure each foot to simulate walking. Start with your left foot. Lift your right foot completely off the mat. Holding the black bars in front of you, lean forward to move the yellow circle into the blinking green target. Then place your right foot down on the mat.
  4. Now the Kiosk will measure your right foot. This time lift your left foot completely off the mat. Lean forward again to move the yellow circle into the blinking green target. Be sure to hold the handles while you do this. Once the measurement is locked in, put your left foot down on the mat. You will then answer a question on the screen about your weight. Then, ta-dah, you are finished! Say hello to all of your personalized recommendations!

Motivation can come and go… Find your “why”

Motivation isn’t always going to be there, and that’s so important to remind yourself. When you’re not feeling motivated, it can be hard to simply move off of the couch, let alone head to the gym. First and foremost, It’s so important to check in with yourself and find your “why” why do I want to workout? What are your goals? What are you trying to achieve? It’s crucial to know and have a clear understanding of your goals, or else it will harder to find motivation to workout at all. Spend 5-10 minutes writing in your planner/journal and write down your short and long term fitness goals. Dissect them, and really hone in on why you want to achieve them. Write them out, tape them to your fridge or mirror, and remind yourself on a daily basis of what you want to achieve. When you write down your goals, you’re more likely to achieve them.

You will feel incredible after you’ve completed a workout…

If you’re dreading even getting started, think about how GOOD you’re going to feel during your workout. Think about all those amazing endorphins, and “good feelings”.. you know what I’m talking about. You may feel sluggish, and tired now, but there’s nothing like an incredible workout to energize and uplift you. Even if you’re too tired to spend an hour or so at the gym, challenge yourself to do 15-30 minutes of cardio, something is always better than nothing. If you’re someone who needs a healthy outlet for stress, exercise is one of the best stress releases out there. Even a short workout will boost your mood and provide more mental clarity.

If you look for an excuse not to workout, you will find one…

There are a million excuses not to workout… you’re tired, the last thing you want to do after your long day is to go into the gym for an hour, you’re husband is coming home soon, the kids drove you crazy today, ect. Everybody gives into their excuses, but it’s so important not to let your negative thoughts win every time. If you’re looking for any excuse not to workout, I promise you, you will find it. Take your emotions out of it, and decide to put yourself first. Your mental state as well as your body will thank you for working out. If you’re having a hard time getting started, prepare the night before. Lay out your gym clothes on the counter, pack your gym bag and place it by the door. Having to walk by your gym bag, and clothes is no-brainer reminder.

Consistency is key to achieving your goals + Make a plan…

Pencil it in, schedule it, and don’t let anyone get in your way of taking “me time.” Make sure you do all of your non-negotiables first thing in the morning if you can, so you leave plenty of enough time to hit the gym. Write in your planner the days you are going to workout, and put a reminder in your phone if you have to. If you’re feeling like you just don’t know what to do once you get to the gym, make a plan. Write down a workout routine, and stick to it. If you’re feeling lost, google it, or look up workout routines on YouTube, be sure to use the resources around you.
