Hello friends, how is your week going so far? My week has been going by so slowly, and I honestly chalk it up to the fact we’re counting down the days until our first vacation together as Newlyweds…is this a normal thing all married couples get excited about or are we just odd? We’re so pumped to be going on a vacay to visit with friends and family back home. The temps have been in the 100’s all week long, and I’m beyond ready to plunge into the ocean back home. We head back to Maine in about a month, so I’m doing anything and everything to occupy my mind while we wait…Like playing with all things beauty. It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of beauty products. From nail polish, skincare treatments, to lipstick. There’s just something so satisfying about playing with beauty products and trying out new things. Today I’m sharing with you all how to keep your lips in tip top shape, utilizing just a few key products found in your pantry + a beauty giveaway!
Stay Hydrated // I can’t preach this enough, hydration is EVERYTHING. Your lips are delicate, and thin, so to keep them looking their best, you must stay hydrated.
Avoid licking your lips // This is one of those things we do without thinking. I learned this hard lesson when I was very young growing up in New England, and for any of you living in cooler climates, I’m sure you know to. Do not lick your lips in the cold, or really any type of whether- saliva dries out your lips.
Don’t pick or bite your lips //This one is a no brainer here, your lips are delicate, and thin skinned, so they can be damaged easily. When you pick at them, they heal a lot slower, since your mouth is constantly moving. Refrain from picking, even if they’re chapped.
Keep them away from the cold/sun // Use a scarf in the winter, and apply a Chapstick with SPF year round.
Utilize Moisturizing products // This goes for lip masks, chap stick, anything that will do the job! I apply a lip mask at night, and just switch to regular lip balm in the AM. Lip masks tend to be extra hydrating, and do the work for you at night to leave your lips super soft in the morning!
Exfoliate when necessary // I use a DIY scrub, a sugar scrub created with honey, (find it on my Pinterest beauty board!) Just mix up a tiny bit in a small ramekin and you’re good to go! No need to spend $10+ at the drugstore for a scrub you can create right in your kitchen. If you don’t want to get creative, utilize a soft tooth brush, and just gently buff your lips in circular motions for a few seconds.
