Hello lovelies!
It’s been far too long since I’ve sat down to indulge in a good book. In fact it’s been quite a while since I’ve actually had the time to do so between working, balancing being a wife, and now adding a new pup into the mix…just finding “me” time is rare these days. Although I will say I’ve done very well with taking me time lately and practicing self-care, because it simply is the most important thing you can do for your mental health and overall well-being. This year I set a lot of new goals for myself including picking up a new book once in awhile, reading is one of my greatest pleasures, so I fully intend on following through with my goals. Just recently I had an amazing client at work bring in two books for me, one of which was “You’re A Badass” and since, I’ve made leeway on my reading list, so I thought I would share 3 books I’m currently reading.

Wild by Cheryl Strayed

If you’re a woman or a man who enjoys hiking, being in nature or just simply slipping away for a little while wandering through the woods you would absolutely love this book. Wild is a best-selling memoir by Cheryl Strayed, and has exceeded all of my expectations including all the hype surrounding the book & movie. I’m the type of person who thrives on adventure so reading this book really puts everything into perspective for me about being outdoors and reconnecting with yourself, So this book is high on my priority list to finish this month. With it being so hot in Dallas lately reading this book puts me back into a place mentally where I’m hiking or just walking around in the Maine woods and for that I’m super thankful because it gets me out of my head. Wild is Cheryl’s journey of backpacking through the Pacific Crest Trail alone in and it’s absolutely incredible she’s such a great storyteller and I cannot explain how much I love this book. I think I love this book so much because I can relate, Cheryl was going through such a hard time in her life and she was impulsive and decided to hike the trail with no experience and she was just ready for change. If you’re looking for an amazing, heartfelt, inspiring book you have to read this!

The Newlywed Cookbook

For Christmas I bought Dustin the Newlywed cookbook I thought it would be a cute addition to our bookshelf as well as teach us how to cook together. This includes very basic meals but also desserts drinks etc. things that newlyweds should cook together. Some of which are super easy but for me it’s super difficult because I’m not a chef at all! I burn meat all the time, I’m definitely not your typical woman or wife for that matter. Dustin definitely does all the cooking in this household. I will say I’m trying to be a lot better about cooking because I know it’s important, and eating healthy is everything to us. This year I’m trying to make more of an effort to learn new skills in the kitchen and be able to cook a full meal without burning anything 😉

You’re a Badass by Jen Sinclair

One thing to know about me as I love self-help books or self-care inspired books. You’re are a bad ass how to stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life has kept me on the edge of my seat. This is one of those feel good, kickass inspiring books you will not be able to put down. I’m only 100 pages in, and I already plan on purchasing this book. Also this is the book that really inspired me to start my blog up again because I just realized I’m not doing what I love to do, which is writing and connecting with others. There are so many facets of this book was so many twists and turns and it actually educates you on how to raise your vibration and stop doubting yourself and start living your best life. I’m all about these types of books, because they truly lift you higher and make you take a good hard look into yourself. If you want a book that will make you question your life- in the best way possible, you need to pick up this book!

Have you read any good books lately? What’s on your reading list this year? I’d love to hear!
