Dining Room Reveal

Just recently, we completed the coolest project: a DIY Board & Batten for our dining room. Those of you who follow me on Instagram got a full on glimpse in what it was like to work with my husband on this project. If not, you should peek my “DIY Projects” highlight to watch the entire process, featuring my super cute fur baby & hubby. This project was insanely easy, and inexpensive as a whole. We managed to only spend $150 for all the supplies and paint. Now that our dining room is exactly the way we want it, I wanted to finally give you all a house update! We purchased our first home last July, and I have YET to give you all a glimpse of our home. So today, we’re going to do a little dining room reveal! I am so excited to finally share a few photos with you all today. For those of you who aren’t aware, we have the cutest ranch style home (wide, open concept type of home) and we own almost two acres of land. While we’re not certain we will stay in Maine forever, we’re grateful we purchased a more modest first home. We’re able to save sooo much each month, and put our money into renovating this cute, two bedroom house. Alright, enough gabbing, enjoy the reveal!

Our Entry Way / Dining Room

We love that our main entry way flows into the dining room. Our second entry comes in from our screened in porch (which we’re obsessed with!) Having a wide, open concept type of home, it’s so much easier to place cute décor in. This stand was originally blue, that I painted white myself. I change out the décor on it pretty much every couple of months, depending on the season. The thoughtfully placed items always accommodate those who enter our space. A basket was placed for visitors keys/phones/ect. Our home sign was actually given to us by our amazing realtors, and just fits the whole vibe, and greets our guests as they come in, letting them know this home is filled with love, and touches of Maine. The plant just tied everything in as a whole, and brings a dose of color to the muted space. Obviously, you have to have a mirror in an entry way, that’s why I decided on your not so average gold, round mirror. We love that the mirror and the basket pair well together.

We’re OBSESSED with how this board & batten truly pulls the entire room together, creating a fresh, classic vibe. Our dining room has an interesting little touch we love: a bar. We decked our little bar area out with two metal/wood stools, where guests can hangout, drink/eat and be merry. We love that this room can accommodate many guests. We decided to hang a shelf to the right of our clock, where we can place candles and light them around dinner time, to create a cozy, warming feel. It’s all about the little details

Of course, the lighting wouldn’t have it with me, while I shot photos, but how gorgeous is this table? I pickled this table from a local furniture store here in Maine, and I absolutely love the wood! We’re all about dark, moody colors in our home, and this table was no exception. We love that we have upholstered furniture (which our cats clearly do too) that pairs well with the dark wood. I’m OBSESSED with our storage bench, which allows up to two-three people to sit comfortably. This table has a leaf in it, which you can easily remove to make smaller. There is also a few drawers in our dining table, which is where we store our wine glasses.

Our dining room is one of our favorite places to gather daily in our home. It’s a space we’ve grown to love even more since doing our little diy project. I am so excited to share more rooms with you all, as everything finally comes together, so stay tuned!
