Hello November: Thoughts, Goals, and Life Update

Hello, November! I am so excited that my favorite time of year has officially arrived. I love the months from October-December, for several reasons:

  1. Spooky season – give me all the scary movies, horror flicks, and ghost stories! I don’t stop until December first, guys.
  2. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! Love the holiday season.
  3. Fall Foliage in New England – need I say more? I love where I live! My lawn is covered in leaves, and I am LOVING it.
  4. All the seasonal beverages – PSL, Chai lattes with Pumpkin, and fresh apple cider from local apple orchards.
  5. That smell of fall – You know what I mean, when you walk outside and can smell the leaves changing – I love that smell.
  6. Winter – dare I say it? I love getting cozy, wearing thick, chunky sweaters, and wearing warm clothes!

Okay so I may have gone a littttle overkill with all the things I love about fall/winter. The start of fall is always my favorite. Fall is when we welcome a new season, and kick off the holiday season. I can’t wait to bake all the fall goodies, and begin thinking about what we will try for new side-dishes on Thanksgiving this year. I’ve been dying to hit up Trader Joe’s and go on a huge fall haul, and load our pantry with all the seasonal fall staples! To be quite honest, I have been rarely leaving the house lately…. there’s been quite the change around here. I haven’t been posting as much because I’ve made some huge life changes! So, lets dive in!

In this past few months, life has completely shifted for me…. thanks COVID! Last year I began a job in the healthcare field which I truly loved and enjoyed. While I am still employed with them, I am no longer working full-time, again-thanks COVID!  Due to the virus, my hours were drastically cut back. I took that time to reflect, and decide how I wanted to spend the rest of 2020. Again, I am still employed, however working per diem for the same company. While I’m definitely not where I thought I’d be this year (I think it’s safe to say everyone feels this way!) To be 100% transparent, I feel like I’m exactly where I should be, doing what I need to be.

Earlier this year, I decided it was time to put my goals, and myself first. In doing that, I am FINALLY going after my biggest goal: I am enrolled, and in school for Pre-Nursing! I am so happy, and so excited to be working towards this goal of mine. I have wanted to become a nurse for years, but doubted myself tremendously. For years I doubted myself, and my abilities. Thanks to 2020 and COVID, I’ve realized what truly matters, and how little time we have on this Earth. 2020 has helped me gain so much perspective, and I’ve decided this is the year I will go after everything I truly want in life. It’s been a great year, minus all the little setbacks. Now that I’m a quarter of the way through my first semester of Pre-Nursing, I can say that I finally feel like I’m on the right path. Being a full-time student is no joke, and I applaud any of you that have gone through school!

Other than the school update, life is going pretty well. I’ve made countless changes in my life in 2020 that I’m extremely proud of. Earlier this year I started Acupuncture, and consistent therapy to work on my mental health as a whole. We also invested in a bunch of gym equipment, and were able to cancel our gym memberships, and save money each month. I finally feel like I’m moving in a good direction, and it feels wonderful. It’s been such a long time since I’ve done a chatty-life update post, so we will move right along with goals for the remainder of 2020!!

November/December Goals:

  1. Enjoy the holidays – as much as possible! The holiday season starting from October on truly is my favorite. I am hoping even during the time of COVID that I can enjoy the holiday season this year. Now that we’re homeowners, I cant resist buying home décor, especially for each season. Due to the pandemic, we’re really stuck inside this year, and who knows what Thanksgiving/Christmas will be like…however, I am bound and determined not to let that bring me down. There are still so many things we can do to celebrate the holidays this year (safely)
  2. Get into a better schedule each day – I’m not going to lie: we purchased a new mattress, and I sleep SO WELL….almost too well…. to the point where I’m either up at 5am, or sleeping in until 7am, then starting my day. Honestly, I hate it! I can’t stand waking up at the same time each day. For the rest of the year, I am determined to aim to wake up at 5am each day, drink my coffee, workout, then start my school work. Getting up at the same day, building a solid morning routine will go along way into feeling better throughout the day, I’m sure of it.
  3. Get back to blogging – I’ve slacked so hard in the last six months. I haven’t been posting anywhere – Instagram, my blog, Facebook, and very seldom Twitter. I’ve been busy, it’s as simple as that. I work very hard at school, and it’s paying off – my grades are great, and overall I’m feeling really good about where I’m heading, career-wise. I feel like I haven’t taken time for “me” other than consistently working out. I want to get back into writing, and doing what I love.

So, there you have it, the rest of my goals for 2020! I hope everyone is doing well, and is happy and healthy. I want to hear about your goals, and what you’ve been up to lately! Share with me in the comments below!
