Hey friends, how are you? I hope you are doing well! Lately, I find myself in a massive spring-cleaning-frenzy. I am big on living more minimalistic, in a smaller space with less stuff, so I tend to declutter often. Even though we’re not quite in the early days of spring, I am fully committed to bringing spring-time into my home. I’m ready for it. An easy way to welcome a new season into your home, is switching out your decor. Something I love to do, is decorate and buy house decor (lookin’ at you HomeGoods!) I LOVE making a house feel cozy with new decor/scents. Instead of going out and spending hard earned money on decor, I tend to get creative. I love a good DIY project for house decor, or utilizing simple items in my home. Today, I’m sharing with you the easiest way to bring spring into your home, using a simple coffee tray and items already found in your home – I hope you enjoy styling as much as I do 🙂
Adding a tray on your coffee table is a smart move for SO many reasons! For one, your tray acts as a catch-all, it houses remotes/and anything else you may use in your living room! I love switching out my trays throughout each season to add a different element to my table. I have a round coffee table, so naturally I go with a round tray. My coffee table is small, so I tend to go with a smaller tray overall – but do you! If you have a long, rectangular table you can opt for either round or long and narrow- there really are no rules here! For spring, try whatever you like, or maybe go with something woven.
Think spring – any type of greenery will wake up a space. Greenery, real or fake tends to bring people a sense of calm, so why not add in a plant? I tend to opt for fake plants, because I have cats that INSIST on eating plastic and real plants (weird, I know!) I tend to grab my fake plants from either Marshalls/Hobby Lobby or Target! This plant I got in the dollar section at Target-super affordable!
In my house, I love using coasters, because it prevents scuffs. Instead of using your basic cork coaster, opt for something fun and punchy. Coasters can be switched out, and come in a TON of colors/materials. I picked up these heavy marble coasters at HomeGoods because I LOVE anything to do with marble. I tend to use a lot of matte white/black in my home, so this white was the perfect transitional piece for the coffee table.
One thing I always put on my trays is a seasonal candle, or a few mini candles. I have an obsession with buying candles, I just love having cozy scents in my home. In my living room, I love to match color schemes. Since I have a moody living room, full of blue/greens, I tend to opt for a white/green or blue candle. Again, there are no rules, you don’t have to match your colors! Pick a cozy scent that reminds you of the season. When I think of spring, I think: fresh linen, flowers, fresh scents.
If you’re a reader – bonus! I throw in my daily reads into my coffee table tray, because it’s something I am always reaching for. So many buy “coffee table books” which can range from travel/lifestyle categories, but again, do you! Adding in a book to your coffee table tray creates height, and adds a fun new element to your coffee table. I don’t recommend using a book you’ll never pick up, opt for something of interest to you and your family!
