Hello again friends, how is your week so far? I’m in disbelief it’s already the end of May…Summer is right around the corner! Life lately around here has been absolutely incredible! No, really.. I can’t complain about a thing here.. not even that for seven straight days it’s been in the 90’s…nope not even that! I honestly have so much to tell you all, I don’t even know where to start…May was the first month in a long time where I didn’t set goals for myself. Not a one. But somehow… I ended up accomplishing quite a bit. Today I wanted to share with you all, all of the things that are happening in my life at the moment!
Odin is doing SO WELL acclimating to his new life with us…..
Firstly, can I just say how much I LOVE being a dog mom? Ever since Dustin and I got married, we instantly wanted to grow our family. I guess that’s what happens right? You get that itch…but usually people have babies, we just opted for a dog first…and nothing is wrong with that, in my opinion. I feel like having a dog does prepare you for an actual baby…no really! I have to make sure my schedule aligns with his, and remember to feed him, take him out to use the bathroom, and teach him various skills. Okay, so maybe having a dog isn’t like having an actual baby, but it does help in preparation for one! Anywho… Odin is acclimating so well to apartment living! When we adopted him, we weren’t lead to believe he was trained in the least bit. To our surprise, he was house trained, crate trained, everything! So we really got lucky in that department. We’ve also been leaving him out of his crate for long periods of time while were at work, and he does so well! We’re quite impressed. Our schedule works so well with having a dog, Dustin also works 10 minutes away, so he’s constantly stopping in on his lunch break and letting him out, and eating at home…so that works out perfectly! On Saturdays – Wednesdays are his dog parks day, that’s when we’re available to take him to be social, swim at various lakes, and just run around a bit. On the days we can’t go to a dog park, I’ll take him for walks after work, when it’s not a whopping 90 degrees out. Overall, we love being fur baby parents, it truly makes us feel we have a little family of our own.
We’re excited about August….
It’s official…. Dustin and I are coming back to Maine in August, for a visit of course! We are super excited to have purchased our plane tickets, and begin making plans with friends and family. Also..this will be my very first time on a plane, and I know I’m definitely behind the times! I’m a little nervous…does anyone have any tips for first time flyers?? Please send them my way! We’re definitely getting a bit restless at the moment, with only two months to go.. I am counting the days. I haven’t seen the majority of my family for almost two years now? It’s been forever. I can’t even explain to you all how much I just miss my hometown, and being able to go a mile down the road if I want to visit my family. I miss hugging my dad, and visiting my sisters at work, or just seeing friends from high school passing by me in the grocery store, only to exchange a “Hey how are you?” I miss the familiar faces. I miss home, you guys. I can’t wait to go home and visit with my friends, and be able to hug everyone. I’m just so excited for our first vacation as a married couple, is that weird? I’m honestly pumped for it all. We know we definitely want to move back to New England in the future, but the time right now is unknown. For now, I’ll settle for a brief visit.
Dallas is starting to grow on me….
Please take that with a grain of salt…for the first year that we were here I feel like all we did was complain and compare Dallas to Maine. Which I never should have done because they are complete opposite places to live. The first year was the absolute hardest, the homesickness was real, and constant..Now I finally feel like I’m in a good enough place to say Dallas isn’t so bad. We are here for a purpose and we are doing exactly what we set out to do. Dustin and I are thrilled with how cheap it is to live in Texas, that’s one of the biggest reasons why we moved here. One of our biggest reasons for moving to Dallas was that we just wanted to get into a stable place financially. We also desperately wanted to get out of New England for a while to experience new things and live life a little differently. I’m so happy to finally be enjoying Dallas, without as much homesickness attached.
Career wise….
For those of you who are new around here I have been working in the beauty industry for five + years, that being said I’ve worked in various salon/spa settings. After taking a brief pause from Salon life, I began my career with Sephora, and climbed the ladder as high as I wanted to go. I transferred my job from Maine to Dallas, and wound up getting promoted, and quickly realized my passion didn’t lie in managing, but in skincare/makeup/ect. I still love Sephora I would love to go back there maybe part time in the distant future but as of right now I have been working in a completely different industry. Those of you who are a little bit newer around here will be surprised to find out I switched career fields entirely. I’ll do an entire post on that dedicated to my certification, I am an ACE certified personal trainer. I became certified in January 2018 Shortly after my wedding in October. For about a year now I’ve been working full-time doing personal training and I absolutely adore it. So far this year has been phenomenal, I love my job! I’m helping others, and I truly feel like the work I’m doing is making a difference in peoples lives and for me that is so valuable and very awarding.
What’s new in your life? Give me all the little details! I’d love to hear!
