Life Update + What I’m Looking Forward to This January

Hey friends, can you believe it’s January already? I’m still in shock that this month has returned. It seems like yesterday I was just planning my goals for 2018..and now it’s a brand new year! If I’m being honest, January is definitely one of my favorite months out of the year.. the entire month just feels like a “reset” which I’m all for, especially after the holidays. I’m so glad to put our last holiday season spent 2,000 miles away from home behind us… what do I mean by this?! Jump to our life update to hear our good news!

Life Update

Firstly: This has been the hardest secret to keep from my blogging family, I’m so grateful for all of your love and support over the course of this past year. I truly love sharing life updates with you all, and keeping everyone in the loop on anything from our daily lives, travels, and experiences. For awhile now, I have been keeping a big life decision under wraps from a lot of you, and now feels like the perfect time to share.

This Northern Native will be moving back home, to New England!

My husband and I are so happy to be heading back home, and starting a brand new chapter in our lives. Now that it’s January, we’re getting very close to our move date, and becoming restless. We’re beyond ready to be back home, surrounded by our friends and family. It’s been a challenge to be away from the place we adore for a little over two years. And while I’m definitely going to miss Dallas… there truly is no place like home. It’s been tough to be away from our families, especially during the holidays. It’s been harder missing those special days, like births, birthdays, and fathers day. Being away has given me some much needed perspective on life, and for that I’m grateful. There are no words to express how happy we are to be heading back home very soon, I simply can’t wait. I am over the moon excited to be back home, and taking the next big step in our lives, which I’ll share here…

What I’m Looking Forward to This January

Our Move

I can hardly wait for our move date you guys! Dustin and I have been counting down the months, and now in a few short weeks we will be back HOME in Maine! I can’t even find the words to express just how excited we are. While it’s been stressful to begin to purge, organize, and decide what will stay, and what we’ll part with… I am so excited for this move. Our last “move” was rather easy, because it was in the summer, and we only had one animal… but now, we have three. Since moving to Dallas, our little family has grown from one cat, to two, and one Jack Russell Terrier. It’s going to be quite the challenge to drive 2,000 miles in a car with our little furballs. Right now we are trying to work out the details (if we’ll get a moving truck, ship one car, ect) Right now, I’m just ready for all the details to be sorted out so we can focus on the bigger picture: getting home!

House Hunting

Again, I can’t even find the words to express my excitement… We are so pumped to begin the process of searching for a place to call home when we move back to New England. I never imagined getting to this stage in life…as odd as that sounds. I always imagined becoming married, getting a dog, traveling…but buying our first home? it just wasn’t something I ever dreamed about, and for what reason, I’m not sure. But after living in a small one bedroom apartment for the past two years, it’s really all we can think about at this point in our lives. We’re dreaming of a big backyard for our dog, and possibly expanding our little family in the coming years. We simply can’t wait to begin to tour houses, to decide whether we want to build, rent or buy a home.

Growing My Blog

I swear it wasn’t until this past December where I FINALLY started to achieve my “blogging goals”. I had been blogging for over five years on Squarespace, and wasn’t getting the results I was dreaming of. After closing down my site for a solid six months, and taking a much needed break, I made the decision to create a self hosted blog. I wanted to be apart of a bigger blogging community, to make an income from my blog, and make a difference in others lives. I’m so so proud to say I finally made my first $1,000 blogging, in two sponsored posts! I finally met my goal of making an income with my blog and I couldn’t be more happier. I’m feeling extremely grateful to have made some incredible blogging friends as well. This month, and this year, I am excited to work with more brands, land sponsored posts, and grow this blog of mine.

What are you feeling excited about this year? What plans do you have this month? Share with me in the comments below!
