For all of my beauty junkie friends, I am hear to tell you, put down the foundation.
Just, put it down…
One day is all I’m asking, I swear.
Before you’re quick to tell me no, just hear me out.
I have lived, worked, cried my mascara off in the beauty industry for (most) of all of my career, I’m here to encourage even the most beauty obsessed person, to skip makeup, just for a day. If you’re still with me, and reading this, I applaud you (no really, thanks for staying) While I love a long wear foundation NARS Laguna bronzer just as much as the next girl, it’s so important to ditch the makeup every now and then. If you want to know my reasonings behind
It’s so important to set aside time to truly pamper your skin. Wearing makeup 24/7 can really put a damper on your overall glow, and lead to clogged pores. Even if you have crystal clear skin, allowing a day off from makeup will allow your skin to breathe, and heal as it needs to. If you have troubled skin, or breakouts in anyway, allowing your skin to breathe, without any traces of makeup on it, will be hugely beneficial.
It’s hard to remember what your skin truly looks like, when you’re constantly wearing foundation. While foundation and makeup are amazing tools in enhancing your natural beauty, it’s important to love yourself, makeup-free, flaws and all. No-makeup days aren’t just for models with picture perfect skin, it’s for every single one of us. When you start to take a day or two off from makeup, you will slowly learn to love, and accept yourself, without any added cosmetics, and who doesn’t want that?
When you’re wearing makeup 7 days out of the week, there can be quite the “shock factor” when you don’t have any on. For some, this can be the number one reason they opt to throw makeup on. Maybe you’re worried about what your friend, coworker, or strangers on the street will think. Maybe you’re too shocked at the reflection in the mirror. Whatever it is, when you begin to have more makeup free days, you’ll begin to adjust to your all natural self.
Going au natural, will help you to embrace yourself, as is. It’s as simple as that. It’s important to love what you see in the mirror, (hopefully without the shock factor). While it can be hard to have a makeup free day, especially if you’re heading to work, or out on the town, over time, you will begin to hold your head a little higher, and carry yourself with a great deal of confidence. You will begin to love yourself, regardless of what’s on your face.
Nowadays, who wouldn’t want an extra hour of sleep, or even spending the morning mentally preparing for your day? I know I do! On the days where you skip your makeup routine, you’ll be surprised to find how much extra time you have. With that added time, you could be doing a number of other things, whether it’s self care related, or treating yourself to a big breakfast. Having a makeup free day not only free’s up time, it gives you ample opportunity to do more important things.
Even if you rarely take time away from your trusty foundation, don’t you love having a makeup free day? When do you allow your skin to breathe? Share with me in the comments below!
