My Trader Joe’s Essentials

Those close to me, know about my full fledge obsession with the store Trader Joe’s. When we were living in Dallas, I was over the moon about having multiple Trader Joe’s all around me, if there wasn’t a certain product I needed in stock, I would drive 5-10 minutes to another location. Now that we’re back in a much smaller city than Dallas, there is only ONE Trader Joe’s here in Maine… and it makes me super sad. Although, the Portland Maine location is HUGE, and full of insanely sweet, personable staff. Now that I can’t hit up Trader Joe’s as often, I tend to take weekly trips to Portland to stock up on all of our favorite essentials.

One common misconception about Trader Joe’s is that it’s super expensive and similar to Whole Foods. Well, I’m here to tell you, that’s not the case…whatsoever. Trader Joe’s has many “organic” sections, which tend to be a bit more pricy, but their brand of food “Trader Joe’s” is insanely affordable. I tend to stock up on everyday essentials here, as well as many frozen entrees. I’m not sure what it is I love to so much about Trader Joe’s… maybe it’s the hippie flair, or how nice everyone is, or how inexpensive the selection is… whatever it is, I’m all for it!

My Trader Joe’s Essentials

Chiquita Bananas

They always stick at a firm price of 19 Cents a pound, and there is never any better deal than that.

Trader Joe’s Pasta in Farfalle

I love the selection of “Trader Joe’s” brands, and what they have to offer. One pantry staple you can always find in my cart at Trader Joe’s? Pasta! I’m a total carbo-holic. I love stocking up on pasta because this bag is only 99 cents…such an incredible deal.

Trader Joe’s Sweet Potato Crackers

Another incredible deal, at $1.99! I’m obsessed with these delicious crackers. They taste absoluetly incredible, and pair so well with hummus. Trader Joe’s also has multiple flavors.

Speculoos Cookie Butter

This is a pantry staple that we keep stocked up on. Just last year, my husband tried Cookie Butter for the first time and fell head over heels in love with it. They also come in multple flavors. We love this staple for only $3.99, and Dustin can make it last 1-2 weeks at best.

Trader Joe’s Everything But The Bagel Seasoning Blend

We go through this seasoning so fast, and it’s super affordable at $1.99 We love sprinking this on eggs, pasta, or even toast.

Trader Joe’s This Fig Walks into A Bar

I can’t say it enough.. I’m obsessed with the Trader Joe’s brand! They have so many affordable, and HEALTHY options! This type of bar comes in multiple flavors, like: blueberry, strawberry, apple, and seasonally: pumpkin! We love this healthy, five pack of bars for only $1.99!

Joe Joe Slims

These Trader Joe’s “Joe Joe Slims” are basically a healthy, knock off of oreo’s. They are also just as yummy as Oreo’s and come in a few different flavors. We typically get chocolate, but vanilla is a fan favorite at TJ’s. There is also regular Joe Joe’s that are a little bigger, versus the slims. We always have these in our pantry, for chocolate cravings.

Trader Joe’s Almond  Milk

As someone who has a little bit of a dairy issue, I always reach for Almond Milk. I love TJ’s Almond Milk because of the taste, it’s mild, and so delicious. The only thing I wish they would update, is the size options, but this typically lasts me through the week. At $1.99 this is also a staple in our fridge as well.

Trader Joe’s Sprouted Grain Bread

I’m a huge carb-o-holic, so naturally, I’m obsessed with all carbs. The only bread I will munch on daily for breakfast, is Sprouted Grain or Ezekiel bread, which is much healthier than any other type. When I noticed Trader Joe’s has Sprouted Grain bread, AND it was CHEAPER than Ezekiel bread, I literally jumped for joy. Ezekiel bread usually runs anywhere from $4-6 bucks, but thankfully, TJ’s sells theirs for only $3.49, so that’s a huge steal.

Trader Joe’s Kung Pao Chicken + Vegetable Fried Rice

I can’t say it enough… our little family is obsessed with Trader Joe’s. They have such an incredible selection of healthy food, but also, healthy frozen entrees. Our favorite dinner in a pinch? Kung Pao Chicken made with Vegetable Fried Rice. I typically don’t go for frozen foods, but TJ’s is practically my only exception. Their frozen foods are packed full of flavor, and so delicious. We don’t usually go out for Chinese food, because it tends to make me feel sick, so this is the perfect alternative. It’s quick, and easy to make if you have less than 30 minutes to cook.
