There are no words to describe just how grateful I am feeling lately. This year has been a world wind of chaos, so many ups and downs. Luckily, this year has turned out better than expected. When I set my intentions and goals for 2019, I made a few, very realistic goals, and some BIG ones… The biggest goal? To become home owners in 2019…
….and we’ve accomplished it. We’re officially HOME OWNERS!
Can you feel my excitement?
This entire process has been a roller coaster of emotions…. literally. There were times we had our hearts dead set on a house and certain locations, only to realize we simply couldn’t afford it. It took WORK, and a lot of brutal honestly to come to the terms that we wouldn’t have our true “dream house” in our desired location, the first time around. No doubt about it, it was hard to face the music. After a few long conversations, we made a list of non-negotioables we had to have in our starter home, and then, searched again for something that fit our needs. After countless weekends of searching, only to come up empty… we found something that looked promising.
And to our surprise, it had an open house the very next day…
I knew it was fate, I could feel it in my gut.
In my impulsive Aries nature, I simply could NOT wait until the next day. Dustin and I hopped in the car, and we did a drive by. And yep, you bet we were those weirdo’s who drove by about 5+ times. Mind you, our house is in a cul-de-sac…. so the neighbors definitely took notice. Just from the neighborhood alone, we knew it was a great decision, especially for resale purposes. The surrounding homes were beautiful, and this house had a prime piece of land. It had a sizable backyard and the house was surrounded by trees. That night, I knew it was going to be our first home. I didn’t know how, but something was telling me, this would be our starter home.
When the next day arrived, we were pumped. When we arrived for the open house at 3:00, I was shocked to find we were the ONLY ones at the open house. As shocked as I was, I was thankful, because in this market, houses go fast. After hanging out at the house for the entirety of the open house, and having my father in law check it out as well, we then called our realtor. We told him we had to put in an offer, that day.
And the rest…. is history.
We are SO thrilled and feeling beyond grateful that this process has been a smooth one. While at times, it felt like total chaos, I am happy that there was an amazing outcome to this whole process. I am still in total disbelief that not even six months ago we moved cross country, became settled into our new routines, and started seriously looking for a house. Six months ago, I couldn’t picture where we are now, and I am beyond excited for what’s in store for us.
Sadly, this blog of mine has been put on the back burner, and for good reasons…we’ve been juggling life, this entire home buying process, and now, moving into our very first home. Life gets a little chaotic at times, but I’m happy to be along for the ride, so with that, I promise to share many updates, and room reveals, as we get settled in!
