Hey friends, long time no talk! These past few months have FLOWN by, am I right? I can’t believe we are already in our last week of May, and it’s officially Summertime in Maine! There is so much that we’ve been up to since moving back home, and I’ve been a bit absent on here, so I apologize. The hubs and I have been BUSY catching up on things: doctors appointments, dental work, car work, ect. It’s been a busy month for us already, and I’m so grateful for any and all downtime I can find to simply breathe. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a chatty, catch up style post, so here goes!
If I’m being 100% honest here.. I am beyond excited we’re now in full “Summer mode” here in Maine. This is my first Summer back in Maine, and I am feeling so happy to not have crazy allergies. Just being able to see a bit more sunshine has truly done a number on my overall mood and wellbeing. Lately I’m doing a bit more shopping, and trying to find new Summer pieces to add to my wardrobe. Lately I’ve been obsessed with floral kimonos, light cardigans, and brighter shoes. I’m feeling more awake, and fresh now that it’s Summer…if that makes any sense? Overall, I’m feeling excited for warmer days, and even a thunder storm or two.
This has certainly been the most jam packed month we’ve had since moving back home. For almost a week now, I noticed I’ve been slipping up with getting enough sleep, eating healthy, and working out consistently. I am finding myself exhausted with no energy left to practice self care. Between all the newness in the air, and juggling a hectic schedule, I’m struggling to prioritize myself. This rarely happens, because I am a firm believer in prioritizing self care. This month, I am looking forward to getting back into reading each morning, and starting my day off on a good note. I am looking forward to simply taking the best care of myself possible, so I can make this next month count.
Now that it’s warming up around here, I’m doing a bit more outdoor activities. Just recently we went to Acadia National Park, which you can read more about, here. We went last month, and it was such a blast to get out in the fresh air and go on a few hikes. On our shared days off, you can find us bringing our dog to the ocean, going on a long walk, or simply exploring all that Maine has to offer. We are SO excited that we can head to the mountains whenever we please, and visit our favorite parks now that we’re back home. Lately, I’m feeling excited to go on a few more day trips, and plan our next adventure outside.
I’ve been keeping our big news in for so long… we are officially pre approved to purchase our first home! And that plays a BIG part in why I’ve been so absent on here…the whole process is quite overwhelming! Luckily, the pre approval process took no time at all, and we were happy to learn we were in great shape to begin hunting for our dream house. Dustin and I are so ecstatic to finally be house hunting, however, we are nervous. Buying a home is already… very stressful. The market right now is not so great, and while it is a sellers market, we have already been to a few showings so far. Our first house showing was a huge let down, when we realized all of the photos online were very much altered, and highly deceiving. Our first day of showings was a big eye opener, and we’ve already learned so much about the process of home buying. We are (trying) to be patient while we search for the perfect house, with the perfect location. We have also been toying with the idea of building a home, so hopefully we will figure something out soon. Cross your fingers and wish us luck we will gain clarity and figure it out soon!
