What I’m Looking Forward To This Fall

17/09/2018

Anyone who knows me personally, knows that my favorite season is fall, and you can find me wherever the Pumpkin Spice coffee is brewing…no joke. I’m obsessed with Pumpkin Spice. The last week in August, things started changing around here, and no…it wasn’t the weather, because it’s still been in the 90’s. I was recently at Target (shocker) shopping for groceries, and noticed they finally had Pumpkin Spice coffee, and that’s when all hell broke lose. After adding coffee to my cart, I decided to check out the dollar section, and…sure enough there was all things fall décor. And yes, I absolutely purchased a few things…not ashamed about it.

Now that it’s finally September, it feels acceptable to finally wear jeans, break out sweaters, and sport a dark lipstick, even if it’s just to run errands. September to me, always feels like a gateway season to fall, a month of transition. It’s not quite fall, but it’s not really summer either. And regardless.. I’ve already committed to welcoming fall with open arms, I am that obsessed with the changing of the seasons. While I wish Dustin and I could be back in New England to enjoy the season, I’m thrilled that this Texas heat is on it’s way out. Lately it’s been in the low 70’s, and it’s been wonderful. Today I wanted to share with you all of the things I’m excited about this upcoming fall.

What I’m Looking Forward to This Fall

The warmth that the holiday season brings…

There is just something about the start of fall, that gives me goosebumps. It’s such an incredible time, weather wise, but also mentally, for me. I start to declutter, and prepare for the holiday season in so many different ways. Maybe it’s that fall is such a “warm” time for me, with all the baking, and spending time with family, or maybe it’s all the PSL I drink… either way, the change of the seasons always leaves me with a “warmth” I can’t quite explain to others.

Flavored coffee + baked goods…

Bring on the Pumpkin Spice coffee, caramel drizzle, and all things “Fall” themed desserts, please. I love spending time at home with friends and family to bake, carve pumpkins and sip a warm apple cider. There’s nothing better than coming home on a chilly day to the smell of warm baked goods. Growing up, my sister and I would walk down to our grandmothers and bake pies while our dad chopped wood, and fall always brings back precious, sweet memories for me.

Scary movies + Football Sunday…

Being from New England, my husband and I are huge Patriots fans (duh!) and we were so excited to watch their first game this last Sunday. The first game of the season solidified that fall was finally here, and we had a blast that entire day. Being big “fall” lovers, we already brought home pumpkins, pumpkin candles, and started bingeing on horror movies. It’s tradition for us to going on a Netflix binge of all the classics, while eating popcorn and burning fall scented candles each year. I’m looking forward to going on a movie marathon with the hubs in the (very) near future.

Fall Fashion…

This northern girl is a huge lover of sweater weather!  I can’t wait for much cooler temperatures so I can wear my utility jacket, sweaters, fleeces, and riding boots. I have a slight obsession with warm scarves, so I can’t wait to wear them in the upcoming months. I also love updating my look for fall, whether that’s darkening my hair, or wearing a burgundy lip. I can’t wait to break out my fall booties, and wear a cozy sweater sometime soon.

Foliage / Pumpkin picking…

While no state can hold a candle to fall in New England, I’m looking forward to seeing fall foliage in other states this year. Last year for our wedding, we enjoyed fall foliage in Colorado, and it was absolutely breathtaking. We saw a bit of foliage on our wedding day as well, which we were pumped about…we’re also very very excited to be celebrating our one year wedding anniversary next month (more on this later!) We are going to visit Arkansas in the fall to go leaf peeping and see what the rest of the country has to offer us. I’m also happy to be visiting Pumpkin Village in the Dallas Arboretum this year, as last year was a quite the sight. I can’t wait to pick out, carve and bake pumpkin seeds this year.
