Winter Self Care Ideas to Boost Your Mood

Winter is in full swing around here! I can’t believe it’s already winter again… where did the year go? This is also our second year at our new house, and honestly… I’m still loving being a homeowner. Does this feeling ever really get old??  Now that it’s winter, we’re spending so much more time indoors, and while it can be hard not to feel cooped up somedays, it’s also important to find activities that we truly enjoy, to make the most of winter time.

  1. Cozy up with a warm beverage and sip slowly. Stay present and really enjoy the beverage
  2. Make sure you’re getting active – even indoors. If you have a basement, try to build an at home gym. Or do body weight exercises.
  3. Light candles, and create a cozy atmosphere.
  4. Look into Hygge – it will make you love being indoors!
  5. If you’re somewhere snowy, look into a Light Therapy lamp! I have one and notice a huge difference in my mood.
  6. Prioritize socializing – FaceTime is a LIFESAVER! Plan FaceTime dates with friends, or a phone call.
  7. Pamper yourself – Utilize a body scrub, body lotion, and don’t forget to steam your pores!
  8. Give your house and area a deep clean – cleaning and organizing will make you feel happier and more accomplished a messy space = a messy mind!
  9. Start or write in a journal – There are so many things you could write down like, a gratitude list, goals, things to do, ect
  10. Give your hair some TLC – During the winter months your hair can become extra dry. Try a hair mask!
  11. Discover new artists – Listen to a new artist on Spotify, in a new genre.
  12. Accept the season – Winter doesn’t have to be dreadful. Find ways to love this season.
  13. Bake something! – Baking is so soothing especially during the winter months.
  14. Read a book – Whether it’s a magazine, an article, or a book, just dive in.
  15. Do a social media clean out – Winter is the perfect time to declutter your entire life.
  16. If you have a bathtub, soak in the bath – Enhance your bath with bath salts, a bath bomb and candles.
  17. Create a new meal for yourself – Try a new recipie, or something you have always wanted to make.
  18. Try to relax – Meditate, practice deep breathing, or listen to soothing music.
  19. Reflect on your daily habits – Try to see where you can improve, to make your life more enjoyable.

Winter can be a challenging season between the lack of sunlight and being stuck indoors more often. While Winter has it’s own set of challenges, you can decide to make the most of it. Try to incorporate more self care, and activities you truly enjoy.
